Dutchess County Man Arrested for Weekend Murder

A Poughkeepsie man, Robert Robinson, 59, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing incident over the weekend. The incident occurred on Saturday night (April 5) when police responded to a report of a bleeding male near 27 Academy Street around 9:40 p.m. Officers discovered a 51-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest. Despite being transported for medical treatment, the victim succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The investigation revealed that the stabbing took place in front of 48 Cannon Street. Robinson, who has four prior felony convictions, was taken into custody and is being held in Dutchess County Jail pending arraignment. According to the Poughkeepsie Police Department, Robinson is believed to be the sole suspect, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
