Governor Kathy Hochul's administration is taking significant steps to expand broadband access across New York State. The ConnectALL Deployment Program is now accepting applications through May 5 to fund projects aimed at bringing high-speed internet to the state's last unserved and underserved areas. This initiative targets approximately 20,000 homes and businesses that currently lack standard broadband connections.

The program will make $644 million in federal grants available to support the deployment of various technologies, including fiber optic, cable, and fixed wireless services. According to Governor Hochul, "Broadband is no longer a luxury — it's essential infrastructure for education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and daily life."

Empire State Development President Hope Knight emphasized the importance of innovative approaches and strong partnerships in closing the digital divide. The ConnectALL initiative, which is part of a broader $1 billion investment in New York's digital infrastructure, aims to ensure that every New Yorker has access to reliable and affordable internet.

The ConnectALL Deployment Program is a key component of Governor Hochul's commitment to universal broadband access. Selected projects are expected to begin in 2025, with completion anticipated within four years, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

In addition to broadband expansion, Governor Hochul recently announced a $5 million grant initiative to improve mobile wireless coverage in underserved areas, further demonstrating New York's commitment to enhancing connectivity statewide.
