Counties across the Hudson Valley are gearing up for Earth Day celebrations this weekend. Dutchess County is hosting an educational event at the Environmental Cooperative at Vassar Barns in Poughkeepsie on Saturday (April 26). The event will feature interactive activities to raise environmental awareness and encourage sustainability efforts. Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino emphasized the importance of community involvement in environmental protection, stating that even small steps can lead to significant change.
The City of Beacon will hold three community cleanups on Saturday, along with a Sustainability Fair at Hudson Valley Brewery. Meanwhile, the City of Middletown is organizing its annual Spring Cleanup Day at Erie Way Park. Taconic State Park and Copake Falls will also host Earth Day celebrations with food vendors, crafts, and activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In the Lower Hudson Valley, various events will take place throughout the weekend. Bear Mountain State Park is hosting an Earth Day celebration with nature-related displays and live animal presentations. Larchmont will have a celebration at Constitution Park, featuring recycling and water conservation activities. Ossining's Green Ossining will host its 15th annual Earth Day Festival, expected to draw more than 4,000 attendees. The festival will include food, live music, and artisan vendors.
Other locations, such as New Rochelle, Scarsdale, and Sparkill, will also hold Earth Day events, offering activities like crafts, gardening, and live music. These events aim to educate and engage communities in sustainable practices and environmental advocacy.
