The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred on Saturday night (May 10) at the intersection of Main and North Hamilton Streets. Officers responded to reports of a possible stabbing around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 25-year-old man with a cut on his ear. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Detectives determined that the injury was caused by the victim being struck with a bottle, not a knife, as initially suspected. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries. The police have not yet identified a suspect, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s confidential tip line at 845-451-7577.

The Poughkeepsie Police Department is working diligently to gather more details and ensure the safety of the community. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
