An 86-year-old man from Pine Bush has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash in Ulster County. Bernard Pohl was driving a 2019 Honda eastbound on State Route 52 in Shawangunk on Tuesday (June 10) when he lost control of the vehicle. According to New York State Police, the car crossed the double yellow line, exited the roadway onto the north shoulder, struck a utility pole, and overturned multiple times before coming to rest against a tree. Pohl was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:44 p.m., and State Police were assisted by the Shawangunk Police Department in the response. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
