The Ulster County Fair, held in New Paltz, is set to receive a financial boost as part of a $2 million initiative by New York State to support county and local fairs. This funding aims to enhance visitor experiences and promote New York agriculture. The fair will share in the funds distributed across the Empire State, which includes $500,000 for fair promotion and a $1 million marketing campaign to encourage attendance.

The fair will run from Tuesday, July 29, to Sunday, August 3, featuring rides, games, and live music, including a performance by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Chubby Checker. The fairgrounds will also host educational activities for youth, organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County and the Saugerties and Kingston Boys and Girls Clubs, as part of the Transportation for Youth to Local and County Fairs Program. This initiative, which received over $300,000 in funding, aims to increase youth participation and appreciation of agriculture.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball highlighted the importance of county fairs in connecting communities to the state's agricultural heritage. He stated, "Our county and local fairs are the backbones of communities across the state and represent an incredible avenue to connect people to the rich past, present, and future of New York agriculture" as reported by the New York State Department of Agriculture.

The fair will offer free headline entertainment with admission, including performances from Cook & Belle, Asia featuring John Payne, and Emily Ann Roberts. The Ulster County Fairgrounds will open its ticket office on August 1 for gate purchases. Admission is $15, with special discounts available, including free entry for seniors on select days.
