An affordable senior housing project in New Paltz is on track to open in the next few months. Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger announced that Harmony Hall, a development supported by the Ulster County Housing Action Fund, will offer 51 new apartments by October. The project will incorporate solar energy and is conveniently located near a UCAT bus route, enhancing accessibility for residents.

According to Ulster County's official announcements, Harmony Hall is part of a broader initiative to address housing needs in the county. The Ulster County Housing Action Fund, established with a $15 million budget, aims to create sustainable and affordable housing for households earning up to 80% of the area's median income. The fund also prioritizes projects that maintain affordability for at least 50 years.

In her State of the County address, Metzger emphasized the importance of investing in affordable housing, stating, "We're creating housing that people can afford." The county has committed significant resources to various housing projects, including emergency and supportive housing.

The completion of Harmony Hall is a significant step in Ulster County's efforts to provide safe and affordable housing options for its residents. The project is expected to contribute to reducing the housing crisis in the area by offering quality living spaces for seniors.
