Two Arrested on Drug Charges After Catskill Traffic Stop

Two individuals face drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Catskill on Wednesday (July 9). Police stopped Grace Robinson, 41, of Gilboa, and Shawntay Wellsey, 39, of Catskill, on Water Street. During the stop, officers allegedly discovered 2.5 grams of crack cocaine and 4 grams of powdered cocaine.

According to WNYT, Shawntay Wellsey was charged with three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. Wellsey was arraigned and sent to Greene County Jail. Grace Robinson was charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and was released on an appearance ticket, scheduled to appear in Catskill Town Court at a later date.

The Catskill Police Department conducted the traffic stop as part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities in the area. The case highlights the continued challenges law enforcement faces in addressing drug offenses in the region.
