Metro North Railroad is enhancing its service to accommodate travelers eager to enjoy the fall foliage in the Hudson Valley. The "Leaf Peeper" trains will run extra weekend services between Grand Central Terminal and Poughkeepsie, New York, starting October 5 through November 9. This initiative aims to make it easier for people to enjoy the scenic views without the hassle of driving.

According to Governor Kathy Hochul, these trains are part of a broader effort to improve Metro North services, including the introduction of "super-express" trains that reduce travel time between Poughkeepsie and New York City to under 90 minutes. The new schedules also include additional services for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

The MTA announced that these weekend trains will provide convenient access to popular destinations like Peekskill, Cold Spring, and Beacon, known for their picturesque landscapes and cultural attractions. Travelers can also explore hiking trails at Breakneck Ridge and Manitou or enjoy the Walkway Over The Hudson State Park in Poughkeepsie.

For more detailed schedule information and to purchase tickets, passengers are encouraged to use the TrainTime app. The enhanced service aims to offer a seamless travel experience for those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of autumn in the Hudson Valley.
