Unfounded Threat Reported at Saugerties School

A potential threat to Cahill Elementary School in Saugerties was reported on Wednesday (September 22) but was later deemed unfounded. A woman called Ulster County 911, alleging that her ex-boyfriend planned to harm children at the school. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the report.

Saugerties Police recognized the caller as someone they had been assisting earlier that day for mental health issues. At the time of the call, the woman was not in the Saugerties area. Officers quickly confirmed there was no credible threat to the school and located the caller shortly thereafter. She was interviewed and then transported for a mental health evaluation.

Mid Hudson News reported that the incident prompted a rapid response from local authorities to ensure the safety of the school. The police's swift action ensured that the situation was resolved without any harm to students or staff.
