The annual holiday supply drive has kicked off in the Hudson Valley, offering an opportunity for residents to support those in need. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the return of the statewide initiative, which will collect food, toys, coats, and school supplies through December 5. Locally, donations can be dropped off at the Eleanor Roosevelt State Office Building on Burnett Boulevard in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The drive aims to support community-based organizations that assist New Yorkers during the holiday season. This year, the initiative has expanded to include food donations, addressing challenges faced by families due to the Trump administration's attempts to withhold federally-funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. These benefits are crucial for nearly three million New Yorkers, many of whom are older adults, disabled, or children.

Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of generosity during the holiday season, stating, "New York’s statewide Toy and Coat Drive offers an opportunity to give back to our communities when it’s needed most." The New York State Office of General Services has established drop-off locations across the state to facilitate donations.

The collected items will be distributed to families in underserved communities, ensuring they have a happy holiday season. Donations will be accepted at most locations until December 5, with food donations distributed in time for Thanksgiving. More information about the drive is available on the official New York State website.
