A meeting is scheduled later this month in Cairo to discuss a proposed $19 million capital improvement project for the Cairo-Durham Central School District. The project aims to modernize and ensure the safety of learning spaces by repairing stairs and ramps, reconstructing foundation walls, and restoring roofs at the middle and high schools.

According to News10, the project was developed following a building condition survey, focusing on longevity, health and safety, and programmatic excellence. Community members are invited to participate in two public forum sessions to learn more about the project. The first session was held on Wednesday (November 5) at the Elementary School, and the second is planned for November 18 at 6 p.m. in the Middle/High School.

The district will hold a vote on December 9 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the middle and high school Distance Learning Center, where residents will decide the project's fate. The total cost of the project is estimated at $19,085,000.
