As the holiday season approaches, drivers in the Hudson Valley are encountering mixed fuel prices across the region. In Ulster County, the average price of gasoline fell by about three cents to $3.02 per gallon, according to GasBuddy data. Meanwhile, Dutchess County experienced a five-cent increase, bringing the average to $3.20 per gallon. Greene County saw a significant drop of nearly seven cents, with prices now at $3.05 per gallon. In contrast, Columbia County's average rose by four cents to $3.15 per gallon.
The state average currently stands at $3.14 per gallon, slightly higher than the national average of $3.05. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that while some regions are seeing price increases due to refinery issues, others may experience relief as maintenance concludes and oil prices stabilize below $60 per barrel.
As travelers prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, they should be aware of these regional variations in fuel prices. With ongoing fluctuations, it's advisable to check local prices before hitting the road.
