Breeze Airways is expanding its service from New York Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, introducing new routes to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, and Tampa, Florida. Starting May 6, the airline will offer twice-weekly flights to Raleigh-Durham on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Passengers will also have the option to continue their journey to Tampa without changing planes, providing a seamless travel experience.

Port Authority Chairman Kevin O'Toole highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating that the new service enhances Stewart Airport's connectivity and economic opportunities for the Hudson Valley and surrounding regions. The Raleigh-Durham area, known as the "Golden Triangle," is a major hub for research in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, and technology, making the new route particularly valuable for business travelers.

Breeze Airways currently operates year-round flights from Stewart to Charleston, South Carolina, and Orlando, Florida, with additional seasonal routes. The introduction of these new destinations aims to position Stewart Airport as a convenient alternative to larger New York-area airports, offering shorter lines, easier parking, and a more relaxed travel experience.

According to Mid Hudson News, Stewart Airport initially opened as a commercial airport in 1990, with Chicago and Raleigh-Durham as its first destinations. Both routes were discontinued years later, but the reintroduction of Raleigh-Durham marks a significant milestone in the airport's history.

The new service is expected to boost travel options and strengthen ties between North Carolina and New York, benefiting both business and leisure travelers. As reported by Rockland Daily, the addition of these flights underscores Stewart Airport's role as a viable choice for travelers seeking convenience and efficiency.
