The City of Newburgh has received over $10 million in state funding from Governor Kathy Hochul to enhance infrastructure along Liberty Street. The funds will support housing production, green infrastructure, and environmental resiliency. Mayor Torrance Harvey expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the city's commitment to inclusive growth and regional connectivity.

The grant includes $6.89 million from the New York State Pro-Housing Supply Fund, which will be used to upgrade water, sewer, and roadway infrastructure. These improvements will facilitate the construction of three mixed-income, mixed-use housing developments, adding over 200 new homes along Liberty Street.

Additionally, $2 million will advance Newburgh Landing, a deep-water port on the Hudson River. This project, which also received a $4 million federal grant, aims to boost maritime commerce, tourism, and recreation, restoring Newburgh's waterfront as a key economic asset.

Governor Hochul also allocated $2 million for a mixed-use development near Washington’s Headquarters. This project will transform a long-vacant parcel into 145 housing units and 10,000 square feet of commercial space.
